SCM501 - Protecting Intellectual Property - JRE Top Picks

The main issues in IP/copyright issues usually boil down to one of two categories: 1. Using someone else's content to the point where they can pursue legal action Due to the nature of the internet today, most content is based of someone else's content, to the point where people livelihoods are sometimes dependent on alternative streams of content to maintain their own, this can be seen in youtubers that do news or commentary for a specific game for example. In a world where people livelihoods are at stake I think it's important to draw the line in the sand and clearly define to what extent people can make use of other parties content. The internet is somewhat of a lawless place until money get involved, once money is involved then people start enforcing laws to ensure that they are protecting their IP against those that would use it for their own gain. Using someone's content can often play in their favor though as long as you are not pretending to be them it exis...

SCM501 - Online Safety and Privacy - JRE Top Picks

Topic Discussion Concerning the topic of online safety and privacy it often has people with quite polarizing opinions, some people are overly concerned with their privacy to the point where they are paranoid whereas some people live in blissful ignorance of what's really going on. I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle and most people are already being taken advantage of in ways that some do not realize. Government intervention may include splitting the companies up into smaller decentralized companies and/or enforcing a rul...

In this blog I'll be discussing the interaction I had with the community I spoke about in the previous blog (reddit.com/r/joerogan). Over the course of a week or so I kept a rough eye out for any topics that I might want to chime in on, usually I will browse the comment threads for these topics without giving any input back. Example 1 reddit.com/r/JoeRogan/comments/d8xtf0/do_yall_really_understand_the_simulation_argument/ The first example of participating in this community I have is from a thread in which people were discussing their understanding of the simulation argument. Viewing the thread creators initial post might help give some context as to what I'm talking about here, the topic was born from a recent podcast Joe did wherein he had a notable philosopher on his podcast and the resulting conversation involved some talk regarding the ' simulation theory '. In this thread people were throwing their two cents in regarding the validity of the theory. I...
